You will meet your AGT guide at the Gallery of the Accademia in Via Ricasoli, after he or she has booked your ticket. The building was commissioned by Grand-duke Peter Leopold of Lorraine as an Academy of Fine Arts and contains a number of statues by Michelangelo ( six or seven, depending on the art historians’ opinions). The foremost is his David, one of the most famous statues in the world. After visiting the Accademia Gallery, your AGT guide well lead you to the basilica of San Lorenzo, the façade of which was never completed, but  for which Michelangelo was commissioned a project by pope Leo X, the son of Lorenzo the Magnificent, which is still extant. Michelangelo, on the other hand, completed the so-called New Vestry, which one can enter from behind the basilica, where the Medici Chapels, or Medici family vaults and tombs are.
