City walk and visit to Palazzo Vecchio

Guided tour of Florence with admission to the Palazzo Vecchio Museum

This tour with your AGT tour guide will also begin in the religious heart of the city, Piazza del Duomo, with the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Baptistery, and the famous Giotto’s Bell Tower, along with the majestic dome by Filippo Brunelleschi—the symbol of the Florentine Renaissance.

Your AGT guide will accompany you to the city’s most prestigious sites in terms of history and artistic value. Among these are the Ponte Vecchio and the scenic Piazza della Signoria, where you can admire the Loggia dei Lanzi and the extraordinary sculptures by Cellini, Giambologna, and other great masters.

The walk will conclude with a visit inside the Palazzo Vecchio Museum.

The Palazzo Vecchio Museum

The Palazzo Vecchio Museum is located in the former seat of the Priors and later became the residence of the Medici family during the 16th century.

Your AGT guide will reveal the history of this imposing building, which, with its austere appearance, resembles a typical medieval structure but, inside, holds the magnificence of an elegant Renaissance residence.

Once inside the museum, you will find the Hall of the Five Hundred particularly fascinating and evocative, decorated with frescoes by great Renaissance artists such as Giorgio Vasari and Francesco Salviati. The hall was used by Cosimo I de’ Medici for political meetings.

Continuing the visit, you will explore the private apartments of Duchess Eleonora of Toledo and conclude with your AGT guide in the oldest part of the palace. Here, in the Hall of the Lilies, you can still admire works by Donatello and Michelangelo, as well as Dante Alighieri’s death mask.

The tour will end in the so-called “Wardrobe Room” or Hall of Maps, a space entirely commissioned by Cosimo I and completed by his son, Francesco I de’ Medici.
