We have attempted to suggest ways of gaining an overview of Florence, even if you don’t have much time to spend in the city, renowned throughout the world for having given birth to the Renaissance. An extraordinary moment in the history of Italy and Europe and, in reality, for human beings in general. Thanks to a series of exceptional economic, political, artistic and philosophical circumstances
and thanks to the common and extraordinary people of the town, Florence provided the foundations for the development of
the “modern era”.
It was not only the great names that have continued to be famous, like Michelangelo and Leonardo, but countless other artists, less famous for anyone who is less interested in history or history of art, but just as great, together with the poets and men of letters, the mathematicians, philosophers and politicians, sponsored by the great merchant and banking families and thanks as well to the ability of the nameless craftsmen, who transformed their ideas into reality and contributed to the new “humanist” vision.
The task of your AGT guide will be to summarise and illustrate all this, while leading you on a walk, during which he or she will provide insights into history, art and beauty, but also offer you a moment in which you shall be able to enjoy an ice-cream, a glass of red Tuscan wine or a cup of delectable Italian espresso, thus adding yet another touch to complete your Florentine experience.
